PRE-DESIGN AND SCHEMATIC DESIGN
Early design work begins with understanding what is already there and what the project can become. When needed, we document existing conditions and prepare as-built drawings, then study your goals, budget, code and zoning requirements, HOA constraints, sun, wind, views, topography, and site features before developing preliminary sketches and floor plan options.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Design development brings the home into focus. We build a 3D model of the house and surrounding landscape, walk through it together, study interior and exterior materials, and refine the design through rendered elevations, 3D views, and floor plans before construction drawings begin.
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION, PERMITTING, AND CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATION
Construction documentation turns the approved design into a detailed set of drawings for pricing, permitting, and construction. We help guide the project through permit review and provide periodic site visits during construction to observe progress, answer questions, review details, and support the design intent as the home takes shape.
Based in Kerrville.
Shaped by the Hill Country.
Burleson Architecture is based in Kerrville, Texas, and works throughout the Texas Hill Country, including Hunt, Ingram, Fredericksburg, Wimberley, New Braunfels, Lake McQueeney, and surrounding ranch, river, and lake communities.
The work is shaped by limestone, shade, water, heat, views, craft, and the practical realities of building well in this region — while remaining open to select site-specific residential projects beyond Texas.
THE STUDIO
Burleson Architecture is led by Garrett Burleson, AIA, a licensed Texas Architect based in Kerrville. The studio focuses on thoughtful residential work shaped by site, proportion, craft, and the details that make a place feel settled, durable, and deeply considered.
Garrett is trained as an Architect as Master Builder - where design, craft, construction, and responsibility are deeply connected. His experience working alongside Pax Chagnon, AIA, in the Architect-led Design-Build practice of Chagnon Architecture, both as a project designer and a construction supervisor, gives him a practical lens for navigating today’s complex building environment. His hands-on work as a craftsman and amateur carpenter continues to shape the studio’s approach: beautiful, ambitious, and site-specific design should also be clear, durable, and buildable.

Let’s talk about your project
Whether you are planning a custom home, renovation, ranch property, lake house, or early site study, the best first step is a conversation about the land, the goals, the constraints, and what the project could become.
